Indrani Mukherjea, former media executive and a key accused in the alleged murder of her daughter Sheena Bora, was granted bail by the Supreme Court in May 2022, nearly seven years after her arrest in August 2015. However, she is still facing trial for allegedly killing Bora on April 24, 2012.
The CBI, which is probing the Sheena Bora murder case, on Thursday told a special court that the bones and remains believed to be that of the victim are not traceable. According to the agency, the remains are key evidence in the case.
The prosecution made its submission before a special CBI judge during the deposition of a forensic expert doctor from the state government-run J J Hospital in Mumbai.
The forensic expert had first examined the bones recovered by the Pen police of Raigad district from the spot where Bora’s burnt body was allegedly buried.
As per court records of Wednesday, special public prosecutor C J Nandode submitted that “after diligent search, the articles referred (bones and remains of victim’s body) and examined by the forensic expert”, who is a witness in the case “are not traced out to the office record”.
