New Delhi, India, October 7 there is enough supply of Russian oil in the market for Indian oil refiners as the Ukraine’s attack the Russian oil refining terminals reducing its refining capacity and making more crude oil available a government official told on Monday. U.S. President Donald J. Trump has demanded India to stop buying Russian Oil, double tarrif’s to 50% on US imports from India when it refuses to comply.
But Indian refiners continue to buy Russian crude oil, said the official, who did not wish to be identified due to the sensitivity of the issue. India is the the top buyer of Russian sea bound oil which is being sold at a heavy discount to the Indian oil processing companies. Though discounts have narrowed to $2-2.5 per barrel from $20 to $25 in early 2022.
Meanwile, India is also consedring increasing oil and LNG imports from U.S., depending on ongoing talks.
